The springtime is always full of improvements here at Donna’s Premier Lodging, and one of our recent updates was a new roof for the office. I must say I have a lot of respect for these gentleman who fearlessly, yet confidently walked on top of the office as though they weren’t 20 feet off the ground.

Tell Us Your Opinion

Tell Us Your Opinion!

A lot of times we get people who call in and want to know “What’s the most popular style accommodation?” I feel like the answer varies from person to person. My personal favorite when I first started working was Bridal Suite #1. I loved the romantic heart shaped Jacuzzi and the front deck seemed to beckon me to sit outdoors and relax to the sound of our waterfall and birds chirping. Then I moved on and the Cedar Cabins were my favorite for a while. The perfect cabin get-a-way; tucked up in the woods where the nature lover in me could peacefully gaze out the window upon wild turkeys, frolicking squirrels, and beautiful scenery. And now I find myself drawn to the Villas; such beautiful vaulted ceilings with skylights and wonderful natural lighting. I imagine myself waking up in the Villa at night and slipping out to the balcony off the lofted bedroom to stargaze. Ahhhhhh – what could be better?  Read More

Happy Birthday Donna Marie!

Donna's Premier Lodging - Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Happy Birthday Donna Marie!

Sunday, March 22 we got to celebrate our owner’s birthday! Donna Marie is a great boss and every year when her birthday rolls around we try to come up with ideas on how to surprise her. It’s always a little bit of a challenge trying to coordinate our ideas with her schedule. I think she’s always a little suspicious when the week of her birthday I *casually* ask if she’s planning on being at the office on a specific day. This year it worked out great, we knew that she was going to be in to open the office on Saturday.  Read More

New Couch in Romancing the Stone

Donna's Premier Lodging - Wednesday, March 18, 2015

New Couch in Romancing the Stone

Today our ultimate cabin, Romancing the Stone Cabin, got a brand new couch! This couch is similar to the couch that we recently put in Cedar Cabin #5…. Flexsteel brand featuring Kashmira fabric. This Kashmira fabric is a dream to clean - soap and water removes spots, ink, food spills (including ketchup and mustard) and much more. Our housekeepers love it!

The couch came from Andreas Furniture of Sugarcreek, Ohio. The next time you’re in the area we recommend you stop by and check them out!  The showroom for Andreas Furniture features 3 floors with over 50,000 square feet; you’ll be sure to find furnishing for whatever you’re looking for.  Read More

The History of Donna’s Premier Lodging

Donna's Premier Lodging - Thursday, March 12, 2015

We often times get guests wondering how Donna's Premier Lodging started.  I sat down with Donna Marie this week and got the scoop....

In 1988, Donna Marie Golden bought an Amish home that would later become Donna’s Premier Lodging. Her initial intentions were to renovate the house into a rental property (duplex). In the middle of renovations she decided to turn the lower section into a Bed and Breakfast room called the Country Heart Room and in May of 1991 Donna’s Country Bed and Breakfast opened for business.  Read More

Fundraiser Euchre Night Recap

Donna's Premier Lodging - Wednesday, February 25, 2015

Kyle and his Ukrainian-born wife, Anya with their 2 daughters Bianca and Denae. This past weekend I had the privilege of attending a local fundraiser for Kyle and Anya Schlegel who are the base directors of Youth With a Mission in Kiev, Ukraine (pictured to the right are Kyle and his Ukrainian-born wife, Anya with their 2 daughters Bianca and Denae). As base directors they have worked with a number of orphans and youth; instilling self-esteem and character while sharing their faith.

The fundraiser event was sure to bring lots of entertainment with many locals getting together for a euchre tournament and supporting a worthwhile cause.

I was asked to bring a dessert and my first thought was to try out a new recipe for Pineapple Cherry Dump Cake that recently was given to me by fellow employee, Patty McHenry, and featured in our March Newsletter (if you missed our March Newsletter click HERE to view it now).
