Berlin Harvest Festival & Rib Cook Off , September 9-10, 2022
Don’t miss the largest event in Berlin each year. The event originated as a way to be thankful for the harvest. It has grown into a two-day event that starts with live music and ends with a parade:- Come for the food. Rib vendors come from near and far to compete for people’s choice awards as well as overall awards bestowed by “foodie” judges. You can expect to find over a dozen rib vendors, delicious local food, and baked goods for sale.
- The craft stalls are a great place to find gifts. Browse through the stalls as a couple then split up to go back and buy a gift for each other. You may also find a great memento for your trip at the Friday night auction.
- Add a little romance by sneaking a kiss under the Friday night fireworks show. Dance the night or day away as you listen to live music. If dancing is not your style, just hold hands as you sway to the music.
The Ohio Swiss Festival , September 29-October 2, 2022
Sugarcreek, Ohio has celebrated Swiss culture every fall since 1953. There are activities that will appeal to everyone:- Do you have a family or are you thinking about starting a family? Watch some of the most adorable kids participate in events created just for them. There is a Kiddie Parade and a Kiddie Pedal Tractor Pull. Kids even get to compete in their own race on Big Wheels.
- If friendly competition gets your heart beating, enter the 5K or 10K Cheese Chase races on Saturday. There’s also a more leisurely 1-mile run/walk through town. If you really want to strut your stuff, see how far you can throw a heavy stone in the Steinstossen competition. In this popular Swiss sport, men toss a 138-pound stone and women toss a 75-pound stone. You can add your own rules to the game; maybe whoever win doesn’t have to cook dinner for week?
- If food and wine is the way to your heart, the fire station will have cheese available to sample and purchase. Local breweries will have samples in the craft beer tent.
- There is lots of entertainment scheduled during the weekend. Don’t miss the Grand Parade on Saturday afternoon. Live bands will be playing on the stage. Lastly, compete in or just watch the yodeling contest.New Paragraph
Charm Days , October 7-8, 2022
Venture among the rolling hills of Charm, Ohio for a festival built around faith, generosity, and hard work. The family-friendly weekend is full of food, community, and laughter:- One of the silliest and most fun parts of the weekend is the Wooly Worm Derby. Participants try all sorts of crazy antics to encourage their caterpillar to climb up a string faster than the others.
- Wooly Worms are not the only animal to get into the action. Saturday morning is full of popular horseback games. Fans love watching the local equine enthusiasts participate.
- You can feel like you are really giving back to the community when you attend this event. Proceeds from the volleyball tournament go to the winner’s choice of charities, the Saturday auction is full of items made or donated by community members, and baked goods and barbecue chicken are sold at benefit lunch stands.
- Lastly, be sure to try one or more of the pies in the pie contest. These sweet treats are not to be missed.

Christmas in Amish Country is centered on faith, family, and meaningful time together. While many Amish join the wider world in observing Christmas on December 25—a sacred day honoring the birth of Jesus—they do so without the typical frills such as Christmas trees or flashy decorations. Instead, celebrations focus on family gatherings, homemade meals, simple gift exchanges, and shared fellowship. In addition to December 25, many Amish communities also honor Old Christmas on January 6, a tradition rooted in the older Julian calendar and still observed as Epiphany by some groups. Old Christmas is a quieter, more reflective holiday marked by family visits and special meals, rather than the busier festivities of December. Out of respect for these Holidays, many Amish-run businesses in the area are closed on both Christmas Day (Dec. 25) and Old Christmas (Jan. 6). Visitors will want to plan accordingly. Both celebrations reflect the Amish emphasis on faith, simplicity, and togetherness, offering a window into a meaningful holiday season that values people and tradition over spectacle.
